I threw these mugs on the wheel using a very smooth high-iron stoneware clay. Once leather-hard I trimmed in the rings with tungsten carbide trimming tools. I then attached the handle and let them dry very slowly before bisque firing, glazing, and finally glaze firing in oxidation. These mugs are glazed with a durable clear glaze on the inside to show off the rich chocolatey clay body, and a Mid-Century Dover Green decorative glaze on the outside that breaks over the sharper edges of the mug body and handle and left the bottom third of the mug unglazed to show off the rich raw clay. I love the way the bright colorful glaze compliments the natural color of the clay. These are elegant and lightweight without feeling overly delicate and fragile.
