I threw these mugs on the wheel using a very smooth high-iron stoneware clay. Once leather-hard I trimmed in the rings with tungsten carbide trimming tools. I then attached the handle and let them dry very slowly before bisque firing, glazing, and finally glaze firing in oxidation. These mugs are glazed with a durable clear glaze on the inside to show off the rich chocolatey clay body, and a turquoise blue decorative glaze on the outside that breaks over the sharper edges of the mug body and handle. I love the way the bright colorful glaze compliments the natural color of the clay. These are elegant and lightweight without feeling overly delicate and fragile.
